Part pixie and half bear, Danielle West hails from Huntsville, Ontario. At an early age, Danielle developed a love of narrative through reading, and eventually discovered her own talent for creating fanciful - if somewhat morbid- narratives through drawings. In coping with the reality of living as both beast and fairy, the themes of hybridity, fantasy, the loss of innocence and mortality began to creep from Danielle's life and into her work. Born of the unconscious, her doodled characters dictate their own strange stories, and let the viewer - and artist - take and leave what they will.
Danielle is a graduate of Ontario College of Art and Design, and alternates between living in Toronto and Huntsville as she sees fit. She is a member of Huntsville Art Society and has been published in Artists of Muskoka.
